WordCamp – Day II : “Old Media vs New Media”

This session is presented by Hock Chuan Ong, Maverick Founder.
It was a quick presentation with no slide presentation and no Question/Answer session.

Below are my notes :

  • Old media and corporate culture are almost the same
     
  • Web 2.0 can be called as naked conversation which we can talk straight to the customer
     
  • Media relation – press is powerful
     
  • Ways to use new media : 
    - great democracy : talk directly to the customer
    - citizen journalism
     
  • Traditional medias are still very powerful until 5-6 years in the future while new media is still in measurement
     
  • In conclusion, company is still not ready to use the new media
